The King and His Kingdom: The Gospel of Matthew Simply Explained is unavailable, but you can change that!

According to the Lord Jesus Christ, our first priority must be to seek the kingdom of God. The aim of Matthew’s Gospel is to help the Christian fulfill that duty. To do this, we must above all honor, trust, and serve the King himself, Jesus Christ. This commentary must, therefore, be both Christ-centered and practical. Its focus is the King and his kingdom.

The tempter begins by challenging Jesus: ‘If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread’ (4:3). ‘Think of your status; remember who you are. Why should someone like you have to suffer the pangs of hunger, when with a word you can remedy the situation?’ The issue is not Jesus’ divine sonship as such.
